Dear Community Member,
As you might expect, everyone here at the Escondido Police Department is overwhelmed with grief by the death of one of our newest members Officer Laura Perez. In times of tragedy, law enforcement always comes together to meet any challenge. In this case, the tragedy is ours, and we vow to do anything necessary to support Laura’s family during this difficult time. In order to meet this challenge, EPOA will needs your help. We have begun accepting monetary donations from the public that will go directly to Officer Perez’ family to assist them with funeral expenses and to support her 4 year old daughter Suzeth. We have set up two ways you can donate to the family:
1. Donate cash or check by delivering it directly to the front office staff at the Escondido
Police Department, 1163 N. Centre City Pkwy. Escondido, CA 92026, or mailing it to
EPOA at P.O. Box 1309 Escondido, CA 92033.
NOTE: If paying by check, please note “PEREZ FUND” in the memo line of your
check. All of the monetary donations collected in this manner will be delivered directly
to the family by EPOA.
2. EPOA has set-up the “Laura Perez Memorial Fund” at Wells Fargo Bank in Escondido.
The monies donated will be held in trust for Suzeth as college fund. EPOA will be
making the first donation to this fund in the amount of $5K. You can make your donation
directly at any Wells Fargo branch using this account number: 1613334562
EPOA would like to make it clear that the methods described here are the only two methods of fund raising endorsed by Laura’s family and that have been established by EPOA at time. We caution the public to be aware of anyone soliciting donations using the EPOA name or on behalf of Officer Perez’s family are likely to be fraudulent.
Any questions regarding fund raising by EPOA may be made directly to President Michael Garcia by calling 760-801-1596, or email: email@example.com.
